Wild Bunny in our Garden!

We were outside on Saturday and we were gardening when we heard some chirp-like sounds. At first we thought it was bird in the tree with there clipping until we spotted a tiny bush move. There were 5 bunnies! We didn't want to disturb the nest. The next morning we saw the neighbors cat sniffing at the nest and when we looked around the nest the bunnies were dead and we lost hope until we found one lucky survivor in the nest! We knew that we had to do something so we waited until my mom would come to the nest and feed the youngster (we had to wait for the mom because the milk is so rich that if we gave it Kitten or Goats milk there was a change it wont survive. Around 11 PM the mom came to feed the lucky bunny. But it stood in place. About 5 minutes later she ran quickly away. We didn't know why until we saw the cat creeping towards the nest. We ran outside and squirted around the cat (not on it) with water and it ran away! (Yay! Haha) And a hour later the mom came to feed and then when she was done we took the little fellow inside and let him sleep in this small den-like pen.
Now that it's getting older it's going to start wondering around and we worry for it. So we are going to call a rehab center to see if there is a Cottontail mom there so it can adopt it. Let's cross our fingers!

REVIEW

   This cage was very simple to assemble. The only difficult thing about this cage was assembling the wires together, but once they are assembled, you don't have to take it apart for cleaning. Also, leave the yellow tabs attached to the wire when you clean out the cage. The door lock looks like the hamster/gerbil can escape from the cage, but it's escape-proof and there is a latch that secures the door. The wheel is silent but, it may be too small for a full grown Syrian hamster. The plastic base is very flexible/unbreakable; this is a good feature because it will resist cracking and chipping.

   The water bottle is similar to the one that comes in the CritterTrail® cages. We do not use this water bottle because it leaks. We prefer that you buy one that attaches to the outside of the cage.

   It is the perfect size for a dwarf hamster. If you have a Syrian hamster you may want to purchase an additional level. (Amazon.com sells an additional level on their website.) The additional level comes with:

 • Floor

 • Wire
 • Tube
 • Another water bottle
 • Food bowl
 • Clips
   This cage is interchangeable with other cage systems like Crittertrail®, Habittrail®, and S.A.M.™ systems. This cage is about the same size as a Crittertrail® 2-level cage.

How To Make A Swing For Your Hamster/Mouse

 Supplies:

cardboard
scissors
hot glue gun
glue stick
string
wooden chew sticks

 



 Be sure to use wooden chew sticks from your local pet store.





Step One:  Place 4 or 5 sticks on to the piece of cardboard and check how they fit. You may trim the piece

of cardboard as needed. Begin to glue each stick in place. 

Step Two: Cut two equal lengths of string. (It is better to have long pieces of string to start off with because you will cut them to fit your cage later.)







Step Three:  Glue the string to the back of the cardboard.

 



Step Four:  Add side pieces to your swing. Attach them with glue.

Step Five:  When your swing is dry, it should look like this.  Attach your swing to your hamster's cage.
